Guy Pylypiw, General Manager and Certified Flooring & Design Consultant

Guy has been in the flooring industry for over 25 years, starting his career in the flooring department of a big box retailer. He went on to manage the flooring installations for that store before leaving to work as a project manager for a small local flooring retailer. He left there after 5 years to work as a sales manager for a large flooring manufacturer before returning to retail at Oshawa Carpet One in 2009. In 2014 Guy and his wife, Michelle, had the opportunity to purchase the store and have not looked back. Guy is certainly an expert when it comes to carpet, hardwood, laminate...virtually every type of flooring! Check him out in Floor Covering Weekly!

Michelle Pylypiw, Communications Director and Certified Flooring & Design Consultant

Michelle has an extensive background in customer service, including 9 years as an award winning Massage Therapist in the local area. After leaving that field to have their first son, she returned to work to manage the customer service call centre for General Motors. When the opportunity arose to purchase the store with Guy, she knew it was the right choice to join her husband in running their family business. Michelle will make sure you are taken care of as she is absolute with the satisfaction of our customers. Check her out in Floor Focus Magazine!

Catherine McKeown, Office Manager and Certified Flooring & Design Consultant

Catherine has a background in Administration and Bookkeeping. After finishing her Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Toronto she worked in Administration - culminating in working for over a decade at a large psychology office in mid-town Toronto. Joining the Oshawa Carpet One Team in 2017 Catherine has trained extensively to become a Certified Flooring and Design Consultant and when she is not found in the offices you can find her helping customers on the sales floor.

Hughie Hume, Warehouse Manager and Certified Flooring & Design Consultant

Hughie is in charge of all of our shipping / receiving, deliveries, warehouse operation and installation preparation. Hughie has been with us since 2012 and is a key part of our team. You will see Hughie if you have product delivered to your home or if you pick-up an order from our store. He thoroughly enjoys helping our customers and always goes the extra mile. Hughie has been in the flooring industry for over 20 years and has an extensive knowledge of products and installations.

Mike Tarp, Senior Project Manager and Certified Flooring & Design Consultant

Mike has built extensive knowledge within the home design & construction industry and brings years of design consultation, estimating team leadership, and project management experience to the Oshawa Carpet One Floor & Home team. His passion for design and flooring led him to this industry where he specializes in home renovations, custom homes, property management, and new build construction. He is a dedicated student of the trades, always focusing on continued education through an ever-evolving industry. His approach is always unique to his clients' vision and he appreciates that every project is an opportunity to create a new & beautiful space! Mike joined the team in 2023 and looks forward to helping with your project.  

Brent Chater, Commercial Account Manager and Certified Flooring & Design Consultant

Brent brings 25 years of comprehensive experience in the flooring industry to the Oshawa Carpet One Floor & Home team. With a robust background spanning sales, estimating, and hands-on installations, he is a technical expert in virtually every type of flooring. As our Commercial Account Manager, Brent applies his deep product knowledge and on-site problem-solving skills to partner with builders, contractors, and property managers. While his primary focus is navigating complex commercial builds, he also lends his end-to-end expertise to a select number of residential clients. Whether managing a large-scale commercial project or a custom home renovation, Brent’s strict dedication to quality ensures your job is completed correctly the first time.

Ashley Vanceslas, Product Consultant and Certified Flooring & Design Consultant

With a strong foundation in interior decorating and design, Ashley brings a trained eye and a creative touch to the team at Oshawa Carpet One Floor & Home. After starting her journey with us as a Showroom Assistant, her exceptional organizational skills and natural ability to connect with clients quickly propelled her into her current role as a Full-Time Product Consultant. Drawing on her previous experience in furniture and home retail, Ashley excels at guiding customers through the early stages of their design journey and turning their visions into reality. Whether you are looking to completely redesign a room or simply find the perfect finishing touches, Ashley’s passion for design and "itch to organize" ensure a seamless, stress-free experience from start to finish.
